Welcome to 4th Grade! My name is Claire Nelson and this is my first year teaching at St. Madeleine Sophie. I am so excited to be a part of this incredible community!
I graduated from the University of Portland in 2021 with a degree in Elementary Education, and a minor in Theology. After graduation, I continued went on to earn my Masters in Education through the Pacific Alliance for Catholic Education (PACE) Program through the University of Portland. I taught 4th grade in Las Vegas, Nevada for two years while completing my Masters, and recently graduated in August of 2023 with my Masters in Education with a focus on English for Speakers of Other Languages.
I am so happy to be back in the Pacific Northwest! I was born and raised in Federal Way, Washington and grew up attending Seattle Catholic Schools. I played CYO volleyball (which I had the opportunity to coach in Las Vegas), and have so many fond memories of growing up in faith-filled environments that showed me how faith could be infused into every aspect of my education. I feel so blessed to be able to come back and serve in the Archdiocese that showed me the joy in learning, instilled in me a passion for service, and inspired my love for teaching!
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, hiking or playing board games. I also enjoy reading, watercoloring, and playing pickle ball. I am on the hunt for the best tacos in Seattle, and love trying out new coffee shops or restaurants.
